WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 5-year-old boy who died after going over a railing and falling from a fifth-floor balcony in Brooklyn Wednesday has been laid to rest.

The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. at a six-story building on Wallabout Street in Williamsburg.

Authorities say the boy's mother heard a commotion on the balcony, and when she looked over, she saw the child falling. The mother was inside with other children at the time.

The boy, Meisels Shimon, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital by Hatzolah, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are still looking into how the boy made it over the railing.

The investigation is continuing, but no criminality is suspected.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at the Shopron Shul on 215 Hewes Street in Williamsburg.

Two years ago, 21-month-old Theodore "Teddy" Levi Nemon fell out of the window of his family's Crown Heights apartment on May 21, 2104. He landed on a third floor balcony and died hours later.
