UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man has been charged in the stabbing of his partner with a screwdriver during a domestic dispute on the Upper West Side.

Martez Stringer, 29, of the Bronx, is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to the New York City Police Department, the 28-year-old victim was stabbed twice in the head with a screwdriver. Police said the incident occurred inside an apartment on Amsterdam Avenue just before 5:45 a.m.

Afterwards, the victim ran across the street to the Lincoln Center Parking Garage and was treated inside.

He was taken to Roosevelt Hospital with two puncture wounds, considered non life threatening head injuries. He is stable.

The screwdriver was recovered.
