WASHINGTON (WABC) -- A visibly frustrated Hillary Clinton faced more questions about her email server Tuesday, but that might not be her biggest concern.

A new CNN poll released Wednesday shows her with her lowest numbers so far this election cycle.

Among Democratic voters, the poll has Clinton dropping to 47 percent, a narrowed lead over Democratic contender Bernie Sanders, who checks in at 29 percent.

Analysts say it's a sign the email controversy may be taking a toll, despite her repeated denials of any wrongdoing.

"We have turned over the server," she said. "We turned over everything that was work related. Every single thing."

On the Republican side, there are the first indications that Donald Trump could be competitive in the general election.

For the first time, Trump polled within striking distance of Clinton, just 6 points behind among registered voters.

Trump continues his tough talk on the issue that catapulted his campaign, pressing stern immigration reform on Fox News.

"The whole thing with anchor babies and the concept of anchor babies, I don't think they have American citizenship," he said.

His call for changing birthright citizenship is sparking a new debate within the Republican field.

"First, it would require a constitutional amendment, which would take huge amounts of political will," candidate Carly Fiorina said. "And I think we need to focus our political will on actually securing the border."
