Free agent Ty Lawson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, a source confirmed to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

News of Lawson's agreement was first reported by The Vertical.

The unrestricted free agent signed with the Pacers in March after being bought out by the Rockets. He averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 assists in 13 regular-season games for Indiana after the deal.

Lawson had a nice start to his NBA career with the Denver Nuggets but was arrested twice for DWIs, leading to his exit there.

For his career, the 2009 first-round pick out of North Carolina has averaged 13.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

At 28, Lawson still has the ability to help a team in the right situation, but he must prove he can play at a higher level than he did last season.

Information from ESPN's Nick Friedell was used in this report.
