NEW YORK (WABC) -- Security at Donald Trump's properties around the Tri-State area is increased as the FBI is investigating another attempt on the former president's life over the weekend.

The Secret Service fired at a gunman on Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida Sunday.

The former president and current Republican presidential candidate was not hurt.

The suspect was later taken into custody, and police also recovered some key items from the bushes on the course- including an AK-47 style rifle and two backpacks.

Multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News that the man detained by Florida authorities in relation to the potential assassination attempt has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh.

This assassination attempt is not only prompting changes in security at Trump Tower, but also ahead of his campaign rally at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday.

On Monday, Nassau County officials said they are confident about their security posture ahead of the rally -- his first since the apparent assassination attempt.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said the county added even more stepped-up security measures and everyone attending will be safe.

"We are used to big events here in Nassau County. We've hosted the presidential debates, the U.S. Open, we've had the International World Cup T20 Cricket matches here. We had 156,000 people from seven nations over the course of 12 days. Incident free, 3 ISIS threats, direct threats against the tournament," Blakeman said.

Officials also said there will be an increased police presence in the residential blocks across the street from the venue.

"That lot is completely locked down the night before. Nobody will be in the lot. Nobody will be in the Coliseum. We do a complete sweet that night. We do a complete sweet again in the morning," Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said.

Nassau County officials said to expect a tremendous amount of traffic in the area on Wednesday.

There will also be heightened security at Trump's golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Anywhere the former president moves, there will be extra measures taken given that this incident comes roughly two months after Trump was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

So far, there are no known security threats at Trump Tower or in the New York-area.
