MASSAPEQUA PARK (WABC) -- A Long Island man is under arrest and facing charges after police say he tried to convince teenage girls to take part in an adult video.

"I have nothing good to say about someone like that," a parent said.

Parents Eyewitness News spoke with were revolted by the allegations.

32-year-old Andrew Quattrone arrested for trying to solicit young girls for a pornographic video.

Detectives say it happened on Sunday across the street from Massapequa High School, in the parking lot a King Kullen supermarket in Massapequa Park around 3 p.m. Sunday.

"The subject showed the girls a box of condoms and asked them if they would like to be in an adult video with him and showed them pornographic images on his phone. The girls began to walk away at which time he asked them to reconsider making the video. The girls ran to a nearby store and called police," said Det. Insp. Kenneth Lack, Nassau County Police Spokesman.

Quattrone, a resident of Lindenhurst, was later arrested without incident.

His criminal history goes back to 2004, with convictions for solicitation and risking injury to children.

In 2009, he was arrested on more serious charges, but a plea bargain left him ineligible for sex offender status.

He was paroled last year and promptly rearrested for trespassing near a school.

That case was still pending when he was arrested outside the supermarket in Massapequa Park.

"I don't recognize the man, but I think that's what these people look for, the schools and the areas where there's a lot of children. Massapequa has a ton of kids, yes it's very disturbing," said Lisa Knabe, a shopper.

He is charged with two counts each of use of a child in a sexual performance (attempt), endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree criminal solicitation
