Assault, robbery of 60-year-old man in Brooklyn caught on camera

MIDWOOD, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police are searching for suspects after a 60-year-old man was assaulted on the street in a Brooklyn robbery caught on surveillance camera.

The victim was jumped on Avenue M in Midwood just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect is seen punching the man while he is on the ground before stealing his iPhone and wallet. Another suspect joins him after the assault.

The man was treated at Maimonides Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The two suspects fled the scene.

The Shomrim Brooklyn South Safety Patrol recovered the surveillance video of the assault from a nearby home. It was posted by JP Updates.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind and Sen. Simcha Felder expressed outrage following the attack, with Hikind offering a reward of $3,000 for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrators.

"I'm shocked that this could happen in our neighborhood, and in such a safe community," he said. "This maliciousness and rampant violence cannot continue."
