Man tried to force her to visit ATM to steal money, police say

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Police are looking for a suspect who tried to force a woman to get money for him from an ATM.

On April 7, the suspect followed the victim, a 24 year-old female, into an elevator in the 70 block of Fifth Avenue in the Village.

Once inside, the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded that the victim lead him to her apartment where he would remove her money.

The victim told the suspect that she did not live there and the suspect then told her to go with him to an ATM to get money for him.

They left the building suspect and the suspect hailed a taxi, but when the taxi approached, the victim broke free and fled to a nearby store.

The suspect fled.
