BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) -- One person was killed and six others injured after a Coca-Cola truck ran off the road and struck a group of people in the Bronx Monday.

The crash happened at about 3:20 p.m. at a bus stop on East 138th Street near Bruckner Boulevard in the Port Morris section of the borough.

People were waiting there for a bus when the truck came from the opposite direction and plowed into the group.

Police said a 37-year old woman died at the scene. The six people injured were being assessed by EMS workers, but were reported to have minor injuries.

Witnesses gave varying accounts of what happened. Some said a vehicle was avoiding a motorcycle and hit the truck, causing the truck's driver to lose control and slam into the wall.

"You heard the brake, but then it went out of control and slammed right into the wall," said witness Ericson Padilla.

The witness said the woman struck was underneath the truck after it stopped.

The woman who died, Shaniqua Silva, was a mother of five children. The youngest was 14 years old.

She was standing at the bus stop talking with her husband on her cell phone when the accident occurred.

"She was talking to me on the phone today, as I was speaking to her on the phone, she said Oh! and that's the last thing I heard from her, I thought somebody snatched her phone away but no," said Orlando Silva.

The crash is still under investigation.
