WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 25-year-old woman walking in a Brooklyn crosswalk was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, and the hit and run was caught on camera.

It happened just before 3 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Lee Avenue and Middleton Street in Williamsburg.

The victim fell onto the hood before hitting the pavement and rolling to the other end of the intersection.

Authorities say another car driven by a 21-year-old woman was at the stoplight when a silver sedan sideswiped her and then struck the pedestrian before driving away from the scene on the sidewalk.

"He was traveling at a fast rate," witness Oren Hinds said. "He hit the woman as she was crossing the intersection. He hit her, and she went up in the air and she landed."

Hinds is a bus driver who was waiting to pick up students when he saw it all, and he says the driver made no attempt to stop.

"The car that hit her did not stop," he said. "He kept on going straight through."

The victim broke her tibia, clavicle and pelvis, and she remains at Bellevue Hospital.

The sedan was later recovered at Franklin and Dekalb avenues, and authorities say the suspect surrendered to authorities Thursday night.

Authorities say 27-year-old Rahleek Odom is charged with felony assault, reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with a serious injury, as well as an equipment violation for window tint.

Odom was allegedly fleeing a traffic stop for the tinted window violation when he struck the vehicle and a pedestrian.
