Thieves mistake dead man's ashes with cocaine

ST. PETERS, Missouri (WABC) -- Teenage thieves mistook a dead man's ashes with cocaine, and they only realized their error after they ate part of it.

A homeowner says the teens broke into her house and stole her father's ashes.

Police say they thought the container was filled with cocaine, but when they tasted it, they realized it was ashes.

Instead of returning the irreplaceable item, they dumped the ashes in the street.
