JAMAICA (WABC) -- Someone is out $200,000 in fake money after authorities at a John F. Kennedy International Airport cargo facility discovered hundreds of counterfeit $100 bills during a two-day period.

While examining cargo labeled as Handycrafts Pictures, officials say U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers discovered a large quantity of suspected counterfeit $100 bills within the 20 laminated pictures and protective cases.

A total of 1,252 counterfeit US $100 bills were seized on July 15.

The next day CBP officers examined an express consignment shipment manifested as Handycraft Bags that contained one electronic case and three organizer bags. They found another 853 counterfeit bills in that shipment.

The $210,500 in counterfeit money was turned over to U. S. Secret Service for further investigation.

The counterfeit money will be destroyed, officials said.

So far no arrests, but the investigation is ongoing.
