Driver killed after crashing into A train subway pillar in Queens

FAR ROCKAWAY (WABC) -- Police say a 28-year-old man is dead after he crashed his car into a support pillar for an elevated subway train in Queens.

The accident happened at about 8 p.m. Saturday in Far Rockaway.

Police say Jeffery McDonald crashed into a pillar for the A train. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McDonald was driving a white 2014 Lexus west on Rockaway Freeway when he struck the pillar at Beach 25th Street.

The investigation is ongoing by the Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
