Woman finds 8.5 carat diamond at Arkansas state park

ARKANSAS (WABC) -- A woman from Colorado found an 8.5 carat diamond at an Arkansas state park.

Bobbie Oskarson was searching the Crater of Diamonds State Park for 20 minutes before she found the gem.

Officials say it is the fifth largest diamond found by a visitor since the park opened in 1972.

The park is the world's only diamond-producing site open to the public.

Visitors get to keep what they find.
