Extra Time: Latest on Mayor Adams' FBI probe; lithium-ion battery sparks deadly Brooklyn fire
NEW YORK (WABC) -- In this edition of Eyewitness News Extra Time, we have the latest on the investigation into Eric Adams' 2021 mayoral campaign.
A week after the FBI seized the mayor's cell phones and his iPad, Eyewitness News learned that investigators are looking into how and if Adams might have helped the Turkish government get fire department clearance to open the Turkish consulate near the United Nations before Adams became mayor.
The investigation became public after the FBI raid on the mayor's chief fundraiser 10 days ago. For the record, no wrongdoing has been alleged.

FDNY reveals cause of fire that left 3 dead, 14 injured in Brooklyn
The FDNY revealed Monday that a lithium-ion battery is to blame for a deadly fire in Brooklyn over the weekend. Three people were killed and 14 others were injured in the fast-moving fire in a brownstone on Sunday. On Monday, the fire marshal said scooters were found at the fire's point of origin and were powered by lithium-ion batteries.
Garage causing Amtrak disruptions also concern for high-rise residents
Two holes found in a parking garage in Hell's Kitchen over the weekend are not only causing Amtrak service disruptions, but there is also a concern for residents of a high-rise that sits above the garage. The unstable garage directly above two rail lines forced suspension of Amtrak service between New York City and Croton-Harmon over the weekend -- and customers may not be able to get their cars until Saturday at the earliest. The Hudson View Garage on West 51st Street between 10th and 11th avenues also has a 30-story high-rise apartment building on top of it.
2 workers rescued from dangling scaffolding in Manhattan
Two workers were rescued from a dangling scaffolding on the Upper East Side. The FDNY responded Monday after receiving a call around 3 p.m. for a report of workers hanging from a scaffolding located at East 75th Street and First Avenue. Department of Building inspectors say that the workers were in the process of performing a facade restoration operation on the 23rd story when a motor on the scaffolding malfunctioned, leading it to fall about two stories before the emergency breaks activated and stopped the fall.
