Man arrested in fatal Fayetteville shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Police have charged a man with fatally shooting a cyclist from Long Island in Fayetteville, North Carolina last week.

32-year old Mark Boyd II of Islip, New York, was found lying on a street with several gunshot wounds just before midnight.

Police allege 32-year-old Carlos Jacob Engle lured Boyd into a co-conspirator's car on the pretense of helping him find a hotel room.

Police said they think Engle and the other man robbed Boyd and then Engle shot Boyd several times.

Investigators said Boyd's bicycle, his saddle bag, a map, camping fuel, and personal items were stolen.

No other arrests have been reported.

Engle is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
