Fire in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn leaves 4-year old boy in critical condition

BATH BEACH (WABC) -- A 4-year old boy is in critical condition after a fire in Brooklyn Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out on the living room of a second floor apartment on 85th Street in Bensonhurst just before 7:30 a.m.

Firefighters had the fire contained within about 30 minutes.

EMS workers performed CPR on the boy on the sidewalk outside to stabilize him.

He was taken to Coney Island Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
