NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A New Jersey man was arrested at the airport Thursday morning after police said TSA agents found an ice pick concealed in his cane.

The ice pick was discovered at the security checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport, concealed in the handle of a wooden cane belonging to a Maplewood, N.J., man, police said.

Police said that passengers traveling with canes put them on the conveyor belt to go through the X-ray machine at the checkpoint. The ice pick was detected in the machine.

When the cane's handle was twisted and pulled, the steel ice pick was found inside, police said.

The Port Authority Police Department responded and confiscated the cane and ice pick. The man was not arrested.
