Non-verbal 15-year-old with Down syndrome found safe after missing in Brooklyn

BUSHWICK, N.Y. (WABC) -- A Brooklyn teenager with Down syndrome vanished from his home Wednesday morning, but was found safe hours later.

15-year-old Joshua Cruz, who family members say is non-verbal and has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old, was found safe at a McDonald's.

He had last seen just before 10 a.m. at his home on Greene Avenue in Bushwick. He reportedly had no history of running away.

Cruz was evaluated at a hospital, but was not hurt.
