D23 Recap: Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kelly Ripa honored as Disney legends

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- From newly announced movies to rides and lands under construction at Disney parks around the world, we brought you all the live updates from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
This gathering of official Disney fan club members took place Friday through Sunday, ending with the Disney Legends Award Ceremony at the Honda Center.
Ideas for this all-new attraction came from classics like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, said Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro.
It will feature the latest in audio animatronic technology and breaks ground in 2026.

Avatar experience is coming to Disney's California Adventure
"This new experience will invite you to explore it further," Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro said.
Ali Rubinstein, with Walt Disney Imagineering, joined D'Amaro onstage.
"We are taking our guests to a whole new location on Pandora," she said.
While "Avatar" is set in a rainforest in Florida, the DCA location will be inspired by the second movie, the upcoming "Fire and Ash" film, and future movies, "At a scale and level that is worthy of these epic stories."

John Stamos sings at D23 showcase
With the intro that, "Music will be our guide tonight, like a magic carpet whisking us from one place to another," John Stamos appeared on stage. Playing the piano, the actor sang, "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes."
The song then transitioned into a medley of classic Disney songs played by the orchestra on stage, while a video montage featured imagery from all the parks.
Later, Stamos hosted in the center of the room and expressed his deep love of Disney, asking, "Where are my Disney adults at?"
The actor then reminded the room that Disneyland will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next year and said more details are to come.

Everything shown in tonight's showcase is in the works, D'Amaro says
Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro just said that everything shown tonight is in active development.
"This means plans are drawn, this means dirt is moving," he said. "This isn't blue sky, we are going to do all of this."
Thanking castmembers in the audience and around the world, he added, "When the Imagineers' job is done, our cast members take over and bring their dreams to life."
