Day 2 of early voting underway in NYC; nearly 80,000 ballots cast so far

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Election Day is less than two weeks away and the candidates are working hard to get their message out to voters as the clock ticks closer to November 4.

In New York City, all eyes are on the race for mayor as frontrunner and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa are making campaign appearances and headlines regularly.

Meanwhile, the race for the governor of New Jersey is heating up after a recent poll put Mikie Sherrill ahead of Jack Ciattarelli by five points.

More people are heading to the polls across New York City on Sunday for day two of in-person early voting.

Early voting begins in New Jersey

Early voting has started in New Jersey where voters are picking the state's next governor.

Republican Jack Ciatarelli was in Bloomfield on Saturday afternoon greeting voters.

Supporters of Democrat Mikie Sherrill gathered Saturday in Cherry Hill for an event. She also had an appearance with Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro.

United Clergy Coalition endorses Cuomo for mayor

The United Clergy Coalition, a prominent alliance of faith leaders representing more than 150 congregations across New York City's five boroughs, endorsed Andrew Cuomo on Saturday.

In announcing their support, coalition members cited Cuomo's long record of results for working families, his proven leadership in times of crisis, and his deep respect for the city's diverse communities of faith.
