Manhole fire forces evacuation of homeless shelter in Washington Heights

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) -- A manhole fire forced the evacuation of a mens homeless shelter in Washington Heights Monday morning.

The fire broke out on West 168th Street just before 5 a.m., damaging a car.

About 200 residents were evacuated from the shelter by a smoke condition inside the building.

No injuries were reported.
