MAPLEWOOD (WABC) -- A tree came crashing down onto a car in New Jersey early Thursday morning, completely crushing it.
Police say a 90-foot tree uprooted from the sidewalk on Franklin Terrace in Maplewood and toppled over onto a vehicle parked across the street.
On its way down, the tree knocked down a utility pole and wires.
Some of the branches came to rest on the roof a home.
No one was hurt.
Investigators are not sure exactly what caused the tree to topple, but wind, the age of the tree and ground saturation could all have played a role.
The road remains closed as crews make repairs.
