Missing 89-year old man found safe at hospital on Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- An elderly man who had been missing for days has been found safe on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The family of 89-year-old Manfred Scharfstein says he was located at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital at 114th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in good condition.

The family had put up posters, and the city issued a Silver Alert, setting off a frantic search.

He had been last seen after walking out his home on 96th Street early Friday morning.

Scharfstein's family escaped Nazi Germany and fled to Israel.
