UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- The beautiful butterflies are back. The American Museum of Natural History's Butterfly Conservatory returns this weekend and marks a milestone. This is the 20th year for the colorful showcase.

The Eight-month exhibit, Tropical Butterflies Alive in Winter, features up to 500 butterflies from around the world that float around visitors in a 1,2000 square-foot vivarium filled with tropical plants.

On Wednesday, three and four-year-olds from the Goddard Riverside Head Start Program got a sneak peek.

The Butterfly Conservatory is one of the Museum's most popular seasonal attractions.

The Museum says, "The spectacle of hundreds of live tropical butterflies is the perfect antidote to the autumn chill."

The Butterfly Conservatory opens on Saturday and you can visit through May 28, 2018.

The cost of admission to the Museum and the Butterfly exhibit is $28 for adults, $22.50 for seniors and students, and $16.50 for children.
