METUCHEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- NJ Transit Northeast Corridor rail service has resumed with delays between Metropark and Trenton after a trespasser incident near Metuchen.

A train bound for Jersey Avenue fatally struck a male trespasser just after 6:30 a.m.

One person on board the train, the engineer, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. NJTPD was leading the investigation.

NEC westbound trains were bypassing Metuchen, Edison and New Brunswick during the investigation. Customers at these stations were directed to take an eastbound train to Metropark for service to Trenton.

Commuters were advised to expect delays up to 60 minutes and some cancelations.

PATH cross-honored NJ Transit Rail Tickets and Passes at Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street New York.
