NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A driver trapped in high water in New Jersey had to climb out of the window to escape.
The man was headed to work on McClellan Street in Newark at the time.
"I didn't know it was that deep...just put the window down and got out," he said.
In Kearny, a mother and her son had to be rescued from their car by boat earlier Sunday, when the rain came down quicker than the roads could handle.
Another driver passing by eventually offered the man a ride to work.
An important reminder for when you see standing water on the road is to 'turn around, don't drown.'
