LAKE VILLA, Ill. -- Good Samaritans pulled three children from a school bus after it crashed in suburban Lake Villa Wednesday afternoon.
Witness Donald Hayes said he was behind the bus when it suddenly left the road and flipped in the 2100-block of Grand Avenue; he says he and other pulled over to help.
"We opened the back of the bus up and I crawled in the back. I got the three kids out of their seat belts and the other people, I handed them out to the other people and we got 'em in blankets until the police and firemen got there," Hayes said.
The children were not hurt.
Hayes says it appears the children were between the ages of 5 and 8. The bus driver told him she felt a shaking in the wheel and then a snap. It had just started snowing at the time of the accident.
