BELMAR, New Jersey (WABC) -- Family, friends and supporters gathered Saturday to remember New Jersey teenager Sarah Stern.

Stern was never given a funeral because her body was never found, but a memorial service is being held at Neptune Community Center from 1 to 8 p.m.

Stern was a 19-year-old student and artist. Some of her artwork will be on display.

She disappeared in December 2016. Officials believe she was murdered, then thrown over a bridge in Belmar to make it look like a suicide.

Two teens were eventually arrested.

19-year-old Liam McAtasney is accused of killing Stern and dumping her body off the bridge.

His friend Preston Taylor pleaded guilty to helping dump her body, and agreed to testify against McAtasney.

Stern was last seen at her home on the night of December 2. Hours later, her unoccupied vehicle was found on the Route 35 Bridge in Belmar over the Shark River Inlet with the keys still in the ignition.
