NEW YORK (WABC) -- Three people are facing charges after two police officers were assaulted in the Bronx.

Police say the officers spotted several men drinking and illegally gambling Saturday morning near Bronx Park Avenue and East Tremont Avenue.

When they tried to arrest the men, a crowd formed and the officers were attacked, authorities say.

One suffered broken eye sockets and a broken nose. The other had his jaw dislocated.

They are expected to be OK.

More officers arrived and arrested the men.
