R&B star Pharrell Williams surprises Washington Heights middle school

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) -- Students at a Washington Heights middle school got a superstar surprise on Friday.

R&B star Pharrell Williams surprised the middle school rock band at the Equity Project Charter School.

The group was singing two of his new songs in front of their classmates.

The event was co-sponsored by music charity 'Amp Up New York City'
