EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- An 11-year-old boy was shot in the leg in East Harlem Sunday.
The shooting occurred on East 109th Street and Madison Avenue just before 3:30 p.m.
The boy was grazed in the thigh and ran into a bodega for help before being rushed to the hospital.
The deli worker at nearby Zaid Gourmet Deli was in the middle of making a cheeseburger when the victim came into the store pleading for help.
The worker tells Eyewitness News that once he realized the boy had been shot in the upper right leg, he called 911, and helped the child on the floor until the ambulance arrived.
Police don't believe he was the intended target.
