17-year-old girl, man shot in East New York McDonald's parking lot
EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man are recovering after they were shot in a McDonald's parking lot in Brooklyn late Monday night, police said.
The shooting happened just before midnight outside the fast-food restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York.
Police say the bullets were aimed at three teenagers standing near a white Honda Pilot near the drive-thru.
The 19-year-old was shot in the face and the 17-year-old was shot at least five times.
An 18-year-old man ran away before falling and accidentally cutting his face.
All three victims were taken to Brookdale University Hospital and are expected to survive.
Investigators have not said what led to the shooting, and no arrests were immediately made.
As police search for the shooter, anti-violence community activists like Thomas Haynes are trying to make a change.
"It's sad because it's in our communities...this is not a third world country, this is America, this is New York, Brooklyn," Haynes said. "How we can't walk from store to store or walk from McDonald's without being shot."
Police are searching for the gunman as the investigation continues.
Authorities are canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance video. So far there are no suspects, motives or arrests.
