Large crowd, contestants gather for NYC Mayor Mamdani lookalike contest in Washington Square Park

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A contest was held for men who feel well-suited to be New York City's mayor.

A Zohran Mamdani lookalike contest was held on Sunday at the arch in Washington Square Park.

The winner knew the importance of dressing the part even though he said it made him "sweat bullets."

"(I) just put on my regular garb and I took a shower and I kissed my wife and I said I'm going to the park to be with the people today and hopefully everybody has a good time," the winner said.

The prize was $100--enough for 33 bus rides.
