Global Citizen Festival lineup announced with new way to secure free tickets
CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (WABC) -- The lineup for this year's Global Citizen Festival was announced Thursday and there's a new unique way to secure free tickets.
The festival, set for September 26 on Central Park's Great Lawn, will be hosted by Hugh Jackman and will feature headliners Lauren Hill and Wyclef Jean, who are celebrating 30 years since the Fugees' album "The Score" was released.
Other artists taking the stage include John Legend, Lenny Kravitz, Laney Wilson, Shaboozey and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.
Rachel Brosnahan and Gayle King will also make feature appearances.
Tickets are free, but to get them you have to perform charitable acts through the Global Citizen app.
This year, after completing an action journey, users can chose between two ways to redeem them: enter the free ticket lottery or make a $25 charitable donation to instantly secure their ticket.
Global Citizen's annual event is a movement to end poverty. The festival campaign is aimed at helping children get to school, supporting farmers who are feeding communities, and providing millions with electricity.
