BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) -- The buzz is winding down in New York after the Knicks won their first championship since 1973, but with the 2026 NBA Draft starting Tuesday night, both New York basketball teams are looking towards the future.

The draft will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the home of the Nets, just a few miles from where the Knicks' championship parade took place last week.

The Knicks will have to wait till No. 24 to make their first pick in Round 1, but the Nets are just outside of the top 5, with pick No. 6.

In fact, the Nets will have two picks in Round 1, after the team acquired three-time All-Star forward Julius Randle and the Minnesota Timberwolves Wolves' No. 28 pick in Tuesday's draft as part of a three-team deal that also will send center Nic Claxtonto the Chicago Bulls, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday night.

The Nets will send its No. 33 pick to Minnesota, sources told ESPN.

As for which team has the top pick in the draft, the Washington Wizards hold that honor, with AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer among the favorites to be drafted No. 1 overall after strong freshman seasons in college.

You can watch coverage Round 1 of the NBA Draft on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET, airing on both ABC and ESPN. Round 2 of the draft will air on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

ESPN and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
