THE BRONX (WABC) -- Three people were injured when gunfire erupted in the Bronx early Sunday.

Police responded to the scene on Crotona Parkway near East Tremont just before 1 a.m. for reports of an assault in progress.

Officers found a 22-year-old woman shot in the left arm and a 32-year-old woman shot in the back.

First responders transported the victims to Saint Barnabas Hospital. The women are in stable condition.
