
LONGWOOD, The Bronx (WABC) -- A five-alarm fire burned through a row of stores and an apartment building in the Longwood section of the Bronx.
Fire broke out in the Prospect Avenue businesses just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Flames burned through a bodega, a fruit shop and a dollar store.
Fire also jumped to the roof and second floor of an adjacent six-story apartment building, but it was quickly extinguished.
That apartment building was evacuated, one resident was treated at the scene.
Firefighters poured water on the strip of stores, containing the fire to the commercial buildings during the hours-long firefight.
The fire was brought under control after nearly 10 hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No firefighters were injured.
