5 people stabbed at Penn Station, 1 seriously hurt

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Five people were injured in a stabbing at Penn Station on Sunday evening, FDNY says.

The random attack shortly after 7 p.m. on the NJ Transit concourse.

One person suffered a serious injury, two suffered moderate injuries, and two suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are all expected to survive.

The suspect, homeless and considered emotionally disturbed, was arrested by Amtrak police.

Authorities did not immediately release the suspect's identity or provide information about potential charges.
