Kitten rescued after getting stuck in underbelly of car for 3 miles on Long Island

LONG ISLAND (WABC) -- A worker with an animal rescue organization helped free a 7-week-old kitten that was stuck in the underbelly of a car on Long Island.

The kitten, who is now named Sunflower, climbed under the car while it was in the parking lot of a storage unit in Islip on Thursday night.

Sunflower managed to hang on for nearly three miles before people inside the car heard her meows and stopped to try to free her.

A neighbor reached out to John Debacker and he was able to pull the kitten to safety.

Sunflower is doing well and will be available for adoption through the 'Last Hope Animal Rescue' in Wantagh.
