
EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 79-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car and killed in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon.
It happened just before 1:30 p.m. on Rutland Road.
Police say a 62-year-old woman driving a Lexus RX 350 was making a right turn onto E. 92nd Street from Rutland Road when she struck a sign and then the woman on the sidewalk.
The victim was pronounced dead and the driver remained at the scene.
Witnesses said the driver was speeding when the SUV pinned the victim against a wall.
Police say she lives on the block and was a fixture at church and volunteered at the food pantry there for many years.
There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
