1 killed, 8 police officers hospitalized after rescuing residents from fire in Bayonne, NJ

BAYONNE, New Jersey (WABC) -- Several police officers were hospitalized after rescuing residents from an apartment building fire in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Officials say, a second-alarm fire broke out in a third floor apartment at Post Road Gardens, a senior housing complex, on Tuesday morning.

The officers ran through the building to assist firefighters with the rescue.

One resident was pulled from a burning apartment. Their condition is unknown.

The police officers are being treated for smoke inhalation.
