NEW YORK (WABC) --
Kids are learning the importance of going out of their way to help others in need.
The non-profit organization Angelwish teaches young people about giving back, and allows them to help millions of other children living with a chronic illness.
Shimmy Mehta, the founder and CEO of Angelwish, joined us on Eyewitness News Sunday Morning, along with Samantha Peterson, who has volunteered her time to work with many children.
Angelwish.org was created in 1999 with the mission to provide the public with an easy way to grant wishes to the millions of children that are living with chronic illnesses around the world.
Angelwish ensures that 100% of individual donations are used for program services and that those funds are extended, where possible, to incorporate an educational component giving young people a hands on lesson in philanthropy.
