BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut (WABC) -- Anger is building in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where vandals targeted several cars in the parking lot of an apartment complex, and some of the victims say this isn't the first time this has happened to them.
Securing a garbage bag to cover the busted window of his car is not how Joey Torre envisioned his Monday morning.
"Nothing was really taken, just vandalism," Torre said. "Information everywhere throughout the car, thankfully they didn't take anything, so I don't know what was the purpose behind it."
Torre wasn't alone.
Tenants at the Cherry Street Lofts apartment complex on Bridgeport's West End told Eyewitness News that the vandals smashed the windows of more than 30 vehicles early Saturday morning.
To make matters worse, the vandalism spree has happened before, numerous times. In the last few years, Ellen Bruno has replaced a car window five times.
"I put in a claim for the windows and have to wait for Safelite to come and repair them," Bruno said.
She said they are supposed to come on Monday, between 12 and 5 p.m.
Bruno and others told Eyewitness News that they have complained to management repeatedly about addressing the lack of security in the parking lot, but to no avail.
On Monday afternoon, we asked the property manager about what's being done to keep the vandals out and the cars safe. and this was the response: "Unfortunately, I was told that I am not to comment."
Vandalism victim Deavon Buster said management doesn't do anything. When asked if he tried contacting them, Buster said they are hard to contact. He says he doesn't even know if the cameras work.
That's one of the items on the checklist for Bridgeport Police, to see if the cameras work, and if they do, did they capture any images of the vandals.
Investigators have also stepped up patrols in the area.
"I sympathize with them," said Bridgeport Police Department Chief Roderick Porter. "You know I have been coming to this complex, working with management and coming to community meetings for several years, even before I became the police chief when I was the captain. So, we are going to continue to work with them."
