Fatal wreck on Jerome Avenue in Bronx leaves one dead

Jerome Avenue section closed after car sliced in half in wreck

BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) -- One person died in a one-car wreck in the Bronx overnight.

A man was killed when the 1999 Lexus he was driving ran into the support of elevated train tracks near East 198th Street around 2:30 a.m.

The vehicle was traveling on Jerome when it hit the support. The car was sliced in half and the driver, who was unresponsive when police arrived, was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area is near Lehman College. Jerome Avenue is shut down.

The New York City Police Department is investigating
