Family to file $105M suit over Central Park horse carriage death
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- The family of the 18-year-old tourist killed when he was thrown from a horse carriage in Central Park is planning to sue New York City and several of its agencies for $105 million.
Romanch Mahajan's family claims the city ignored prior warnings and incidents involving runaway or unattended horses.
The family also says the city failed to regulate the horse carriage industry by enforcing tethering rules, properly training drivers, and implementing measures to prevent unattended horses from running loose.
The family is represented by Liakas Law, P.C.
"This was an avoidable accident. The allegations set forth in the Notice of Claim describe a preventable tragedy that followed years of warnings, prior incidents and failures to implement basic safeguards," said Sagar Chadha of Liakas Law.
