Child hit by school bus in Bergen County, NJ

DEMAREST, New Jersey (WABC) -- A 14-year-old girl was struck by a school bus in Bergen County Wednesday morning, police said.

It happened at the intersection of Anderson Avenue and County Road in Demarest, New Jersey, just before 9 a.m.

The child was seriously injured and was taken by medevac helicopter to an area hospital.

Police say the driver of the bus, operated by First Student, Inc., remained on the scene after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, however, preliminarily it does not appear that any criminality is involved.
