SOHO, Manhattan (WABC) -- The NYC-based nonprofit CITYarts celebrated its 37th annual gala May 27, marking nearly four decades of dedication to creativity while honoring visionaries who've led the way.
Eyewitness News anchor David Novarro was the master of ceremonies at the gala, held at the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo.
Arts advocate Dominique Lévy, international writer Dalia Ziada and national security leader Meaghan Mobbs were among the honorees.
Ahead of the United States' 250th anniversary, the gala sought to recognize those whose pursuits made lasting impacts on their communities.
The event brought together more than 100 guests and raised funds through several live auctions of artworks and other objects.
Since its establishment in 1989, CITYarts has connected underrepresented youth with experienced artists to produce murals across New York City and the world. Through a collaboration model, the nonprofit has increased accessibility and awareness of arts education and community programming.
