Red Cross issues call to donate blood in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut | How to help

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- It's easy to forget about giving blood when your summer days are packed with vacations and plans.

This summer season, the American Red Cross is calling for blood platelet donors to book an appointment to give blood so that hospitals stay supplied to help patients without any delays.

They are also reminding everyone how important it is to continue to donate blood during the summertime, as the need for blood never goes on vacation.
