Yonkers couples celebrate over 50 years of marriage in vow renewal

YONKERS (WABC) -- Love is in the air in Yonkers.

On Tuesday, Mayor Mike Spano officiated a vow renewal ceremony for couples celebrating 50 years or more of marriage.

Regina and Leroy are just one of the couples at the ceremony who have been married for 61 years.

Everyone renewed their vows.

Each couple was first married in their late teens or early 20s.

Jim and Marian are survivors!

"It's just you understand each other, you love each other so much that you're willing to forgive and you're willing to work it out," one couple said.

"Well we have two secrets we're best friends and you learn how to say yes dear and no dear," Amber and Paul said.

Joseph and Margaret who have been married for 59 years said, "Never go to bed mad."

Congratulations and Happy Valentines Day!
